An elderly man attempts to murder a youth who disturbed his sleep while playing a video game in Tirupur | Chennai News

COIMBATORE: Tirupur City Police have arrested a 65-year-old man for attempting to murder a youth who disturbed his sleep while playing an online mobile video game. Police said the arrested man, R Ramsamy, had spent 14 years in prison in connection with a murder case. He had served his sentence about three years ago.
The injured youth was identified as Karthikeyan, 19, son of Kumarasamy from Paraikadu in Murugampalayam. Karthikeyan is studying an adjustment course at the Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Dharapuram.
At around 10 p.m. Sunday, Karthikeyan was sitting outside his house playing video games on his cell phone with his friends at high volume. His neighbor Ramsamy, who works as a tailor in a banyan company, was trying to fall asleep. He felt that Karthikeyan was chatting with his friends at high volume while playing the game on his mobile phone. This disturbed Ramsamy. He couldn’t sleep. So, Ramasamy came out of his house and advised Karthikeyan not to disturb his sleep.
A verbal altercation broke out between them. In a fit of rage, Ramasamy took a sickle from his home and attacked the youth on his right hand. Karthikeyan’s relative, Sachin, a driver, took him to Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH). Karthikeyan had six stitches in his right hand. His state of health is said to be stable.
Karthikeyan’s older brother, K Karuppasamy, a bus driver, said the youngster was chatting with his friends while playing the “Free Fire” video game. “He asked his friends to attack the people who appeared in the game. But the neighbor thought Karthikeyan had used the words against him. He attacked my brother with a sickle,” Karuppasamy said.
Karthikeyan’s parents filed a complaint with the Veerapandi Police who registered a case against Ramasamy under sections 294(b) (obscene language) and 307 (attempted murder) of the Indian Penal Code. Police arrested Ramasamy on Sunday. He was taken into custody.
