The Formula 1 Esports Women’s Wildcard returns for 2022, giving female sim racers the chance to compete in the F1 Esports Series Pro exhibition.
In its second edition, the Women’s Wildcard will feature some of the fastest women and girls and find out who has what it takes to master the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Sim riders will record their best lap times at the famous Spanish Grand Prix circuit and the five with the fastest times will be invited to Silverstone for a one-off special race to determine who will move on to Pro exposure.
F1 Esports has been hugely popular since its debut in 2017, but the Women’s Wildcard is still a new addition to the competition.
Last month, McLaren hosted a Women’s Wildcard Experience Day and invited GiveMeSport Woman to the McLaren Technology Center, alongside other content creators and motorsport influencers.
The experience day, hosted by Sky Sports presenter Natalie Pinkham, gave the media the opportunity to record their own lap times using the racing simulations in the amazing McLaren Shadow Studio.
Although this is not an official competition, participants were able to experience real racing simulation conditions and try to master the turns of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
The W Series, the all-female racing championship, has exploded in popularity since its first season in 2019. Drivers have been making waves on the real circuits, and now is the time to increase the number of women involved in virtual races.

Last year, GiveMeSport Woman spoke to Rebecca, the first-ever F1 Esports Women’s Wildcard winner.
“I guess in a way, young girls and other women have someone to look up to when I do what I do. I do not deny that it is something important and to be part of it is something I am proud of.
Rebecca also admitted that the world of esports gave her a huge sense of comfort during the UK’s first coronavirus-related lockdown of 2020.
“I don’t know what I would have done without it. If I didn’t have what I have – a place to get away and escape the world – it would have been a lot harder than it was.
This year, another female sim racer will join Rebecca on the winners board and potentially become the first female to win the Series Pro Championship.
