Siberkreasi presents a class of gaming-themed podcasts as part of a year-long program


Jakarta, Indonesia, April 8, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The indonesia Ministry of Communications and Informatics (Kementerian Komunikasi dan Informatika/ Kemenkominfo/MCI) and Siberkreasi National Digital Literacy Movement plan to launch a series of gaming podcasts from April 9 to April 24, 2022 as part of “Kelas Podcast Gaming”.

This gaming podcast series aims to showcase audio podcasts as an informative and educational medium for Indonesian gamers, creators, and even developers. Next to the #MakinCakapDigital campaign, MCI invites the public to be more creative by creating a lot of positive and entertaining playful content in the form of podcasts.

On the other hand, podcast listeners have also increased significantly since 2017. According to a report published by Networks in the limelight in 2021, 69.2% of Indonesians surveyed now prefer playing video games to watching TV or movies. Additionally, 78.8% of Indonesians willingly spend their free time watching game content on online platforms such as Twitch and Youtube, which further proves that the shift to gaming culture is very real for Indonesians. .

From this report, in terms of gaming frequency, it turns out that Indonesians spend an average of 8.54 hours per week playing games, ranked Indonesia at 4and position (out of 7 countries studied) behind China, Germanyand India. This gambling addiction even takes place during working hours since 22.9% of Indonesians admitted to playing video games at work once a week.

The gaming podcast series will be divided into 6 insightful sessions, each focusing on the following topics: 1) Landscape of gaming podcasts in the age of new media; 2) Listening culture and opportunities for gaming podcasts; 3) Player Developers and Safe Talking Space; 4) From players to ethical creators; 5) Expansion of gaming podcasts to other media; and 6) The future of gaming podcasts in Indonesia.

The series will take place online and will feature diverse and prominent gaming communities as guest speakers including Indonesia Gaming Association, ESPL Indonesia, Indonesia Gaming Media Association, GGWP E-Sports Community and GIMBOT.
